Dog Food Supplement

Several years ago I started feeding my little dog “Big Shot” homemade dog food. The only worry I
had in preparing his food was whether I had everything in the homemade food that he needed
nutritionally. It was not until the last year or so that I have found a good dog food supplement available.
A Reputable Trustworthy Source
The dog food supplement that I have confidence in is manufactured for Dr. Andrew Jones, DVM. I
first learned about Dr. Jones in regards to the 2007 massive dog food recall. As I have learned more about Dr.
Jones I have gained confidence in his character and his love of animals, especially
dogs.
History of My Need for a Dog Food Supplement
I was concerned about the dog food I was preparing for my Pomeranian. My little Pom “Big Shot” was
a finicky eater when I got him from a kennel. He would not always eat his dog food. I was concerned that
he was not getting all the nutrition he needed from the dog food he consumed. We all took
vitamins as a family. I felt I should be able to find a dog food supplement as well.

Big Shot had been a show dog until it was discovered he had a physical abnormality. That discovery
ended his show dog career with his kennel. Big Shot was put up for sale as they were only keeping
him to show in the dog shows. Their aim in showing Big Shot was to have a show winner they could
advertise to increase their value over other Pomeranian breeders. When I learned of this little guy
being for sale, I brought him home immediately.
As I was saying, Big Shot was a finicky eater from the beginning. Big Shot was used to being fed
special treats. He never really liked any of the commercial dog foods we found for him. The kennel had
given us a list of the dog foods they had fed him. We bought those but he never seemed to really enjoy
them. We then asked our veterinarian for his recommendations. We tried the vet’s suggested
dog food. Again, Big Shot ate commercial dog food only if he had too.
Big Shot loved the aroma of meals cooking in the kitchen. Through a long process we eventually
started preparing Big Shot’s meals. All the time that I cooked his meals I worried about whether Big Shot was
getting all of the nutrients dogs need in their diet.
Back in the late 70’s and early 80’s the only information available was published by the large pet food
manufacturers. Big Shot would not eat commercially prepared dog foods. I wanted to fulfill my need
of wanting to add special dog food nutrients into his diet. Big Shot is no longer with us, he died at
around 12 years of age. I have fed homemade dog food ever since Big Shot. It was not until recently
that I have had the confidence that my dogs were getting all the special dog nutrients their body’s
needed.
