Jack Russell Training

Jack Russell Training

Jack Russell Terriers are a vivacious, high energy small dog.  The Jack Russell was originally bred to hunt foxes flushing them out of the fox’s den.

They make a good house dog if they are taken for regular daily walks.  They need the opportunity to exercise.  This dog is small in size but needs a large yard or other opportunity to get adequate exercise.  Jack Russell training is essential if you are to have a respectful well-behaved dog.

Jack Russell Innate Qualities

Jack Russell Terriers have certain innate personality traits that have not been bred out.  It is necessary to socialize a Jack Russell with people and other animals while it’s still a puppy.  Jack Russell training is important to domesticate this little guy socially.  A well-bred , trained Jack Russell dog is an excellent pet.

These dogs are rambunctious, feisty, independent dogs having earned their reputation as a scrapper.  A Jack Russell does not seem to know its own size.  This little dog will attack other dogs two or three times its size just for the thrill of the fight.  It is extremely difficult to train this dog to stop wanting to fight other dogs.

It is important when walking on a leash to hold it tightly when in reach of a strange dog.  When walking with this dog you must be continually alert to other animals and dogs.  He wants to scrap every opportunity he can.  You must hold the leash close, ready for any surprise attack.

The Jack Russell dog breed were bred for their willingness and ability to flush foxes out of their dens.  Jack Russell Terriers love to chase and dig after anything small and furry that will attempt to run away.  Jack Russell training does not seem to be able to abate these instinctual urges out of this dog.  It is easier to train a Jack Russell where it can dig than to stop its digging.

Jack Russell Training is Essential

Jack Russell training is essential if you want a respectful dog around children and adults.  The Jack Russell is intelligent responding well to training.  Jack Russell’s enjoy challenges.  They are an excellent candidate to become involved in agility training.  Agility obstacle courses not only expends this dog’s over abundance of energy, they also provide the mental stimulation this dog needs.

Jack Russell Terrier – High Personal Self-worth

It is important with a Jack Russell Terrier that you establish yourself as the alpha dog leader.  This dog’s personality makes him want to dominate most all situations.  He will assume authority the moment you let your guard down.  Formal Jack Russell training will assist you in establishing and maintaining yourself as the dog’s alpha leader.

Jack Russell terriers have an over inflated self-worth.  A well-trained sociable Jack Russell is in your future if you are willing to put in the time to train this dog.  Remember training is a 24/7 activity.  You let up being the alpha leader for one moment and he will assume the authority.

You must be willing to invest the time in your Jack Russell training regimen.  These are great pets that respond well to training.
